In a historic milestone for the academic community of Fundación Universitaria Navarra - UNINAVARRA, a team made up exclusively of female students, has reached the pinnacle of success, becoming the winner of the National Anatomy Competition, positioning itself as the representative of Colombia in a renowned international competition.
This feat has its roots in an initiative that arose at a lunch between colleagues in the city of Quito at the end of 2022. At that time, Colombia lacked competitions of this type and the idea of having a winning team to represent the country in an international meeting was enthusiastically received by various representatives of the sector.
The initiative was consolidated during the XV Colombian Congress of Morphology, held last year at the facilities of the Universidad de La Sabana, where the Fundación Universitaria Navarra - UNINAVARRA, had the largest student delegation, composed of 42 participants, also standing out for receiving several awards, among which stood out the first place in the contest by the team composed of five female students of the Medicine program: Hellen Samara Cruz Vega, Karen Daniela Cubillos Trujillo, Dahian Sophie Arias, Ana Sofía Carvajal and Sarah Valentina Agudelo Amézquita, who demonstrated their skill and dedication in the field of anatomy. This team was accompanied by Dr. José Darío Rojas Oviedo, Coordinator of Morphological Sciences at UNINAVARRA, who has twice presided over the Colombian Association of Morphology and is one of the minds behind the creation of the National Competition.
The UNINAVARRA team emerged victorious from the group of participating institutions, among which were Universidad de La Sabana, Universidad de Manizales and Universidad del Bosque, giving them the honor of representing Colombia in the second edition of the Iberoamerican Anatomy Cup, a competition that will bring together countries such as Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Peru and Chile, which will be held in online mode next Wednesday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m., Colombia time.

The road to success was not without challenges. Dahian Sophie Arias, one of the members of the group, highlighted the teamwork and commitment to independent learning of each of her teammates, which was decisive for them to obtain a perfect score in the final round of the competition and in the shortest time possible, which led them to victory.
For her part, Karen Daniela Cubillos Trujillo recalled the beginnings of the team, when they were in the second semester of the Medicine program and highlighted the learning process and the camaraderie that characterized their participation in the competition, emphasizing the trust placed in the knowledge acquired and in the leadership of their teachers.
In the framework of Women's Month, UNINAVARRA proudly exalts the outstanding participation of this team, recognizing that their victory is not only an achievement for these young students, but also highlights the potential and female talent in the academic field, inspiring future generations to pursue their goals with the same determination and dedication that characterizes the Uninavarrista community. The Fundación Universitaria Navarra - UNINAVARRA wishes them the greatest success in their next international competition, with the conviction that they will carry with them the banner of the institution with honor.
