IV version of Navarra Ploggers in commemoration of International Water Day

As part of the commemoration of International Water Day, the Navarra University Foundation - UNINAVARRA held last Saturday, March 21, 2026, the IV version of Navarra Ploggers, a day that integrated physical activity, environmental education and social commitment.

The initiative was led by the Environmental Engineering program, through its University Social Responsibility (RSU) project GIAU: Environmental Monitoring, Sustainability and Education Network for Water Culture, with the purpose of raising awareness among the academic and external community about the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), considered a key route for the protection of the environment and the construction of a social, economic and environmental balance that guarantees a sustainable future.

A day for the environment and well-being

The activity, inspired by the worldwide trend of plogging -which combines physical exercise with waste collection- took place in Quebrada La Toma, with Navarra Sport as the meeting point.

The event was structured in three main moments:

First moment: A physical activation day was held with calisthenics, aerobics and dance routines, with an approximate duration of 30 minutes, promoting healthy lifestyle habits.

Second moment:The participants took a tour of the creek, where, organized in groups, they combined the running activity with the collection of solid waste, contributing to the recovery of this important water resource.

Third moment: The collected waste was delivered to the allied entities, generating a space for reflection on the negative impact of inadequate waste disposal on the environment.

Institutional participation and articulation

The event was accompanied by entities such as the Civil Defense, Transit and Transportation of Neiva and the National Police, in addition to the active participation of different institutional agencies and the community in general.

Closing and projection of the initiative

The day ended with physical recovery activities, integration spaces, the participation of “Navarrito”, the presentation of incentives by the allied entities and a photographic record of the attendees.

With this activity, UNINAVARRA reaffirmed its commitment to the formation of conscious citizens, promoting environmental culture, community participation and the protection of natural resources, especially water sources.
