The CESU approved Agreement 01 of 2025, which updates the High Quality Accreditation model.
In a historic meeting held in the municipality of Tumaco, Nariño, on April 28, 2025, the National Council for Higher Education (CESU) approved Draft Agreement 01 of 2025, which updates the High Quality Accreditation Model for the country's higher education institutions. This decision marks a milestone in national education policy, aligning the Colombian model with international standards of quality, relevance and academic rigor, within the framework of a structural transformation of the quality assurance system led by the Government of Change.
The approval of the new model responds to a participatory and technical process led by a CESU commission, with the accompaniment of the counselors of the National Accreditation Council (CNA), and was attended by Vice President Francia Márquez. During the session, the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Ricardo Moreno, emphasized that this update is in line with the policy of free education, which has made it possible to expand access to public higher education in regions such as Chocó, Nariño, Cauca and Valle del Cauca, with a more relevant and high quality academic offer.
With the approval of Agreement 01 of 2025, the new Accreditation Model will be signed by the Minister of Education, Daniel Rojas, officially published and presented to the public at a launching event. This progress strengthens the State's commitment to inclusive and equitable higher education with high standards of academic excellence.
