    The program of Specialization in Internal Medicine of the University Foundation of Navarra - UNINAVARRA, with a greater emphasis on Primary Health Care, aims to train medical specialists with the ability to address the patient's diseases in a comprehensive manner and, therefore, to see the human being holistically. The objective of this medical-surgical postgraduate program is the study, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases, training Internists who develop their activity in both inpatient and outpatient settings, within the legal framework established for their professional practice.

    The Specialization Program in Internal Medicine at UNINAVARRA, is articulated with the social, cultural, environmental, technological, economic context, responding with relevance to the diverse needs that arise in southern Colombia and the requirements of the Integrated Health Care Policy - PAIS, the Model of Integrated Health Care - MAIS, the Model of Integrated Health Care with Territorial Approach - MAITE and the Integrated Health Care and Risk Management Routes - RIAS, since the graduate will have skills at the assistance, administrative, teaching and research levels, adequate to diagnose, treat and promote the rehabilitation of the population, to diagnose, treat and promote the rehabilitation of the adult population living in this area of Colombia, where a series of chronic non-communicable diseases and other pathologies typical of adults are triggered, which require the evaluation of the patient's health status under a comprehensive view, involving biological, psychological and social aspects, Therefore, they will be able to treat cardiovascular diseases, respiratory system, nervous system, endocrine-metabolic system and nutrition, renal system, digestive system, tumor and blood diseases, rheumatic and systemic autoimmune diseases, skin diseases, infectious diseases, among others.

    The curriculum of the Specialization in Internal Medicine program, consisting of 196 academic credits, responds to curricular guidelines that promote comprehensive training, interdisciplinarity, curricular flexibility, internationalization of the curriculum, mobility, and boasts the presence and contributions of different disciplines and sciences, which generate a significant contribution to the comprehensive training and holistic development of the training process of the UNINAVARRISTA Internist, designed to solve problems, challenges and complex challenges of a real world, which demands comprehensive skills with global and holistic approach and diverse learning outcomes, an example of this is the presence of subjects such as computer science with the course of Technologies 4.0 applied to medicine; basic sciences, with Pharmacology and Toxicology; social and human sciences, with Bioethics and Medical Law; exact sciences in their relationship with health sciences, within the framework of the Epidemiology course, which will allow the resident to care for patients recognizing diversity, their rights and duties, acting and providing humanized medical services and benefiting the community of adult patients, with the use of technologies and knowledge that ensure a higher quality in diagnoses, treatments and rehabilitation.

    The main practice scenario of the residents is the Medilaser S.A. Clinic, which has different locations in Colombia; Neiva, Florencia, Tunja, among others, characterized by being the main employer of UNINAVARRA graduates, in recognition of their quality.

    Enrollment Process

    Applicants to attend a clinical-surgical postgraduate program at UNINAVARRA must submit the following documents:


    1. Registration form duly completed.
    2. Receipt evidencing payment of registration fees.
    3. Photocopy of the identity document (Citizenship Card / Alien Registration Card or passport).
    4. If you are not Colombian you must bring your student or resident visa.
    5. Resume with supports, including undergraduate transcripts incorporating internship (medical).
    6. Accredit a university degree in one of the programs of the health area, in a Colombian Higher Education Institution duly recognized and authorized by the Ministry of National Education, or a foreign one recognized by the competent authority of the country of origin and whose degree is validated by the Ministry of National Education.
    7. Mandatory Social Service Resolution

    Each applicant will have the right to enroll in only one graduate program, once enrolled, he/she will not be able to change enrollment to another.

    Admission requirements

    As stated by AGREEMENT NUMBER 03 OF 2015 (May 25, 2015) of the Faculty Council of Health Sciences, which regulates the admission process for Clinical-Surgical Postgraduate Degrees, the following specific requirements for admission to the program were established:

    1. Evaluation of resume with supporting documents, including undergraduate transcripts incorporating the internship (medical).
    2. Knowledge test with the characteristics determined by the institution.
    3. Demonstrate proficiency in reading comprehension in English at the independent or intermediate level, i.e. level B1, through the mechanism established by the institution in the call for the admission process.
    4. Interview.
    5. Psycho-technical test.

    At the research and teaching levels, he/she will apply, respectively, the tools of critical appraisal of updated medical literature, applying the scientific method in the resolution of clinical problems in contact with Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) and the pedagogical and didactic techniques to interact with the environment in which he/she works, providing education to his/her patients and performing in medical teaching.
