El termino eutanasia etimológicamente significa bien morir, y hace referencia al acto de la finalización de la vida, por solicitud de la persona y por parte del personal asistencial. A nivel mundial 7 países incluyen en su jurisprudencia o leyes la eutanasia como procedimiento asociado al derecho a morir con dignidad, estos son: Luxemburgo, Bélgica, España, Canadá, Colombia, dos estados de Australia y Países Bajos. Tres países más han legislado sobre la muerte asistida: Suiza y Alemania y dos estados de los Estados Unidos.

Las principales sentencias de la corte constitucional de Colombia asociadas a este tema son: la 239 de 1997: “el derecho a la vida no puede reducirse a la mera subsistencia, sino que implica el vivir adecuadamente en condiciones de dignidad”. Se ha desarrollado el Protocolo para la aplicación del procedimiento de eutanasia en Colombia, la Superintendencia Nacional de Salud expidió la Circular Externa 13 del 2015 y el Ministerio de Salud, la Resolución 971 del 2021, para precisar las pautas que administran el proceso para cumplir con el derecho a morir con dignidad.

En un diálogo de saberes la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales, con el programa de Derecho y la coordinación de Medicina Familiar, y sus grupos de investigación, presentaron los puntos básicos de este tema considerado un dilema médico y legal, desde la confrontación del derecho a la vida y el derecho a morir con dignidad. Este evento tuvo lugar en el auditorio de la biblioteca del banco de la república, el día 11 de septiembre de 2024, siendo liderado por la doctora Martha Cecilia Abella y el doctor Isidro Torres Castro. Se contó con la asistencia de 120 personas entre docentes, estudiantes y personas de la comunidad de Neiva.

Family Medicine, more than an area of medical knowledge, is an integrating axis of medical practice, which provides holistic and humanized medical care to the person; performing particular processes of characterization, validation of information, management, education and proposal of intervention strategies to focus them on primary health care from a systemic, generalist, differential and inclusive approach that seeks the care of the individual, his family and community.

This specialization focuses its work on the person; involving the globality and complexity of the being, taking into account both the physical and psychosocial component of the individual and the determinants that modify and maintain their health. For family medicine, health is more than a state of "Well-being", it is the objective and subjective amalgam of factors that, from each of the individual and family life cycles, tend to the harmonious development and the experience of the individual immersed in a social sphere. For this reason, an ethnographic approach is involved where social, family and community relationships and the relationship with the disease itself are pillars of the care process. The ethnographic vision of Family Medicine allows the differential approach of the individual, the family and its cultural group, allowing the production of cost-effective strategies aimed at maintaining the health of specific groups according to their characteristics and needs.

The knowledge and work of the Family Medicine specialist is transversal to the different medical specialties, not as a professional hoarder of knowledge, but as an integrating specialist, mediator and coordinator of medical care, ensuring its resolvability and timeliness. His approach moves away from the separatist perspective and involves the generalization of medical knowledge to provide comprehensive care to individuals, families and communities.

The specialization in Family Medicine is the result of a need for holistic care based on the individual and not on the disease. Due to its principles and focus on prevention, it is a pioneer and fundamental support in integral processes of Primary Health Care and maintenance of the health of individuals, families and communities.

En el marco de la gran sesión, “Terapia cognitivo conductual: Enfoque terapéutico para facilitar la pérdida y el mantenimiento del peso en el paciente con sobrepeso y obesidad”, realizada por la residente I de Medicina Familiar, María Mercedes Araque, contó con la extraordinaria participación de la licenciada María Fernanda Colla. Esta especialista desde su país de origen, Argentina, además de asesorar a la residente, hizo posible escuchar una estupenda disertación sobre la terapia cognitivo conductual que permite una integración transdisciplinar y un enfoque integral y holístico al tema desarrollado por la Dra. Araque.

On December 12, 2023, family medicine teachers Martha Niebles, María del Pilar Leal, Carlos Reyes and Isidro Torres participated in the Panel of Experts in Family Medicine, organized by the Universidad Surcolombiana. In this event they presented the current characteristics of the specialization in Colombia and worldwide and shared experiences as specialists with students and interns of the Universidad Surcolombiana and the Fundación Universitaria Navarra-UNINAVARRA.

The Family Medicine Specialization of the University Foundation of Navarra - UNINAVARRA counted with the presence of an international speaker, Dr. Dan Fenyvesi; professor at the University of Arizona (United States), researcher, registered dietitian and Master in Nutrition, with experience in public health as a specialist in chronic diseases. He conducted a series of studies on food habits and eating processes according to the food customs of Mesoamerica. The workshop was held on July 27 and 28, 2023, a space where the results of this research process were socialized, an activity that was attended by 240 students beneficiaries of this important training in nutrition.

The meeting recalled that health is the result of the food consumed and that diet and food is reflected in how we look, how we feel and how much energy we have for our daily activities; taking into account that obesity is an epidemic and that this epidemic is generating not only cardiovascular risk diseases but cancers and other diseases, therefore, at this time this training process is of utmost importance for the entire community Navarrista.

Dr. Isidro Torres Castro, coordinator of the Family Medicine program of the University Foundation Navarra-UNINAVARRA and the first year resident Daniel Almario participated with speakers at the XII National Congress of Family Medicine and IV International Congress of Family Medicine of the Universidad del Bosque, international meeting of residents. This event was held on October 26, 27, 7 and 28, 2023 at the headquarters of the Universidad del Bosque in the city of Bogota.

These events are of great interest and formative contribution, so all people are invited according to the schedules and publicity presented by the residents.

On January 12, 2024, the residents of the Specialization in Family Medicine performed their first practice at HUSAC, new headquarters, having as a scenario simulated consultation and debriefing. With the collaboration of simulated patients, the residents participated in simulation practices, where all aspects of the medical act were observed, including communication, doctor-patient relationship, compilation of clinical data, competencies to perform problem-oriented physical examination and finally diagnostic impression and patient management. This activity was recorded for each resident and afterwards each one had the opportunity to observe and perform self-evaluation, followed by a co-evaluation by their peers and finally the attending teachers present and analyze the different aspects of the medical act performed. The activity concludes successfully and the residents are very satisfied after this practice that contributes to the improvement of their professional activity.

Siendo las 07:00 am , del día 15 de enero de 2024 se realiza el acto de bienvenida e inducción a los seis residentes que inician su primer semestre de la especialización de Medicina Familiar en la Fundación Universitaria Navarra UNINAVARRA . Este evento contó con la presencia de la decanatura de la Facultad de Salud, la coordinación del programa, los profesores, los residentes de la primera corte de la especialización, así como el personal administrativo de la institución. Todos se encargaron de brindar una calurosa bienvenida a los nuevos residentes y de realizar una inducción con los aspectos básicos tanto de la institución como del programa. Los nuevos residentes manifiestan estar colmados de expectativas sobre el programa y con los temores esperados al abordar este nuevo reto para su vida profesional.

Siendo las 07:00 a.m. del día 26 de enero de 2024, en la E.S.E. Carmen Emilia Ospina, sede Canaima, se recibieron los primeros pacientes que participaron en el proyecto social de la especialización en Medicina Familiar, “Pasos Seguros, Vida Plena”. Una iniciativa innovadora y fundamental, que prioriza el cuidado integral de los pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2. El objetivo principal de esta actividad es evaluar los pies de los pacientes, para detectar de forma temprana síntomas y signos de neuropatía, una complicación grave de la diabetes mellitus no controlada.

Al mismo tiempo, nos embarcamos en una misión educativa en salud, compartiendo conocimientos cruciales sobre el cuidado preventivo de los pies y sobre diabetes en general. En este evento contamos con la participación de los 12 residentes de Medicina Familiar, de los internos que están haciendo su rotación en esta área y por supuesto de 4 docentes especialistas en Medicina Familiar. Tuvimos la satisfacción de contar con la cooperación de 81 pacientes con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus a quienes realizamos medidas antropométricas, evaluación de miembros inferiores (sensibilidad profunda y superficial: diapasón y monofilamento), asesoría en resultado de paraclínicos y educación asertiva sobre diabetes mellitus tipo 2. La actividad concluyó a las 12:00 m. con satisfacción plena de los participantes y se extendió una invitación a más pacientes para continuar con este proceso evaluativo y educativo.

Como invitada especial en la gran sesión “Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2”, realizada por el Residente Daniel Almario, participó la Dra. Shirley Gallo, Internista y Diabetóloga. Su colaboración permitió que tanto residentes como estudiantes de pregrado afianzarán procesos de aplicación de insulinas y monitorización de pacientes con diabetes mellitus.

Dr. Gallo conducted a practical workshop and taught the participants about the latest advances in glucose self-monitoring and the technology available in our country in this regard.

La especialización en Medicina Familiar realizó, el día 15 de febrero de 2024, su cuarto grupo Balint y el primero con la participación de los 12 residentes. En esta actividad se aprovechó no solo para revisar aspectos de la relación médico paciente, sino que también se abordaron temas del bienestar de cada uno de los residentes. Considerando que el médico familiar debe resolver sus asuntos internos para que estos no se conviertan en un obstáculo para una atención holística e integral de sus pacientes. También se tuvo la oportunidad de realizar celebración de cumpleaños, que son aspectos sustanciales de la persona al sentirse amado y acompañado por sus pares. Así como actividades de relajación y meditación para equilibrar las diferentes dimensiones de cada una de las personas que hacen parte de esta especialización.

Este caso clínico fue de un paciente real atendido en la ciudad de Neiva en la E.S.E Carmen Emilia Ospina, en donde la intervención de la especialidad permitió cambios positivos en el ámbito físico, psicosocial y familiar del paciente. ¡Felicitaciones a las residentes por su extraordinaria participación!

Debriefing as a fundamental process in residents' simulated practice scenarios.

Debriefing is an activity that allows a conscious and intentional reflection of the student's performance after a simulated practice. The student has the opportunity to observe himself in his medical performance and to analyze his communication habits, soft and specific competencies, as well as the quality of his care. The first semester Family Medicine residents performed debriefing after their practice with a simulated patient at HUSAC, which allowed them to see and hear themselves in their medical performance, listen to the patients' perception of them, perform a self-evaluation, allow a co-evaluation by their peers and be attentive to the teachers' suggestions in their heteroevaluation. All these evaluations are free of judgments or numerical weighting that qualifies them. The simulated practice performed on March 20, 2024 was a formative space of great importance for the development of some competencies necessary for family medicine residents.

La especialización en Medicina Familiar en trabajo colaborativo con la Facultad de Humanidades y la oficina de inclusión crearon y realizaron el día 12 de febrero la primera de cuatro narrativas de sexualidad. Este evento se denominó: “El ABC del sexo, el género y la orientación sexual. Se contó con la participación de los residentes y docentes de Medicina Familiar, estudiantes de pregrado de Medicina y estudiantes del programa de Derecho. La sesión estuvo orientada por el Dr. Isidro Torres Castro por parte de la especialización de Medicina Familiar, el Dr. Luis Carlos Quintero Malo de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud y por la Facultad de Humanidades las Dras. Martha Cecilia Abella y Katherine Torres. Fue un evento académico donde tanto expositores como participantes expresaron sus opiniones y conocimientos sobre el tema.

Con éxito se llevó a cabo el día 11 de marzo la segunda Narrativa de Sexualidad, que enfocó desde todas las dimensiones del ser el deseo, el amor y el sexo. También tuvo su componente legal que produjo debates entre los asistentes y reflexiones sobre la sexualidad humana desde un punto de vista integral. Being faithful to the fifth principle of family medicine "The family physician considers himself part of the community network of support and health care." Residents and teachers of the Family Medicine Specialization program were part of the event organized by the Judicial Branch of Neiva, called Health Week. Here, activities aimed at knowledge and establishment of healthy lifestyle habits were carried out. Methods were taught to incorporate healthy eating habits and easy exercises were taught to perform in daily life and thus contribute to the reduction of sedentary lifestyles. On April 8 and 9, 2024, the specialization was accompanied by undergraduate students and in a joint effort health education was brought to the workplace of these important members of the community of Neiva.

Se realiza el Balint con los residentes de primer semestre de la segunda cohorte del programa de Especialización en Medicina Familiar de UNINAVARRA. Este espacio tuvo lugar en una cafetería cerca a la sede de la institución y se llevó a cabo el día 01 de abril de 2024. Los residentes tuvieron la oportunidad de realizar un diálogo sobre la relación médico paciente y se enfocaron en los aspectos emocionales de los pacientes. Se charló sobre sus dificultades con pacientes que se hallan tristes o enojados y cómo estas emociones influyen sobre el lenguaje no verbal del residente y la contratransferencia que estas emociones generan. También se habla de aquellos pacientes con conflictos de pareja o familiares que se expresan durante la consulta. Se establecieron pautas de rapport, empatía, compasión y validación de emociones. También se explicó las formas de descubrir las limitaciones del médico ante lo que el paciente expone o ante sus preferencias. Se establecieron derroteros para autoevaluarse y sanar los aspectos propios del médico que se convierten en barreras al momento de establecer una relación médico paciente.

The definition of the family has been transformed, and a diverse range of families has been created, where kinship and consanguinity are no longer the fundamental aspects of its conformation. Historically, the family did not include the nuclear family we know today and there is controversy as to whether this type of family is a social, religious or legal format.

Se establece en la actualidad la familia como un grupo social abierto, que interactúa con su medio y cuya unión puede ser por vínculos de afinidad, sanguíneos o legales. La familia tiene gran importancia en la educación sexual de sus miembros y se ha demostrado que la educación sexual apropiada de los hijos es un factor que retarda el inicio de relaciones sexuales y ayuda al uso apropiado de métodos anticonceptivos. Se recomienda a los padres educar sobre sexualidad, participar en procesos de educación sexual integral, escoger los momentos para educar, enseñar a los niños a llamar cada órgano por su nombre, validar los sentimientos y emociones de los hijos y además conocer las amistades y lo que los hijos ven en las redes sociales.

These aspects were the subject of reflection and a comparison was made with law and medicine, establishing the role of the family physician in educational aspects. This activity, the third sexuality narrative, was held on April 15, 2024 and was satisfactorily evaluated by the attendees.

La endometriosis afecta aproximadamente al 10% de mujeres en edad reproductiva. Es una enfermedad crónica que se produce por el crecimiento del tejido endometrial en estructuras diferentes al endometrio, pueden ser por cercanía o sitios tan distantes como lo son los pulmones. Esta enfermedad produce una sintomatología bastante variada, pero el dolor es una de las causas que más genera consulta en las pacientes afectadas.

On many occasions what these women feel is not validated and is normalized as a symptom associated with the menstrual cycle, or much worse conditioned to its chronicity and that women have to simply resign themselves and put up with this symptomatology. In her great session held on April 18, the second semester resident Tanya Duran, put herself in the shoes of one of her patients with endometriosis, in a very assertive way she showed all the dimensions affected in her patient. In this academic activity, Dr. Duran presented this pathology from the psychological, emotional, sociocultural, mental and spiritual perspective of the affected patient. This interpretation moved emotions and feelings in the whole audience and allowed an understanding of all the aspects involved in this condition. This innovative didactic technique allowed a comprehensive view of the subject to be discussed and allowed a parallel between the information in the medical literature and the reality of the patients.

Human sexuality is like a pendulum that has swung at historical, cultural, social, economic, religious, legal and scientific knowledge levels. The perception of sexuality has varied from a purely reproductive concept, a physiological process, to a need associated with desire and pleasure. In the same way, important distinctions have been noted in the concepts of sex, sexual orientation and gender. Sexuality scholars such as Freud, Kinsey, Master and Johnson, among others, have attributed an academic character to the study of sexuality and have allowed through different types of studies to learn about this subject that has represented a taboo for humanity in many historical moments.

It is almost impossible to separate sexual behaviors from moral, religious, ethical and cultural aspects and much more difficult to understand the range of possibilities and aspects that encompass human sexuality. On the other hand, there is a very thin thread between the classification of the pathological and the normal within the sexual activities of individuals, since the factors involved in this categorization are very diverse.

This topic was extensively contextualized and discussed on May 15, 2024 in the last sexuality narrative organized by the Family Medicine specialization and the Vice-Rectory of Humanities of the University Foundation Navarra-UNINAVARRA.

III International Symposium on Family Medicine - Universidad de la Sabana

Primary care from the home and the community was the central theme of the international symposium held by the Universidad de la Sabana on May 3 and 4, 2024. UNINAVARRA was present with teachers and residents at this important event. The topics presented at the event were relevant and current, associated with primary care at patients' homes. Currently there are entities that are responsible for providing this type of service, however, there is still a lack of adequate structuring so that this direct contact between health personnel with the patient and his family in their environment is a great opportunity for health characterization and health risk management.

The habits we are

Habits are actions that we perform unconsciously and that are part of our daily routines. Human beings have habits that allow our lives to flow without the need to think or plan activities. We must keep in mind that we also have habits that can represent a certain type of harm or obstacle to achieve goals. Smoking, excessive eating and sedentary lifestyles are among the most frequent and contribute to increased cardiovascular risk, cancer, obesity and diabetes, among others.

It is possible to change habits, but it is important to answer the question: why do I want to change it? This answer has to be something concrete in order to internalize the process. On the other hand, the change must represent something positive for the person and not a sacrifice or an unpleasant activity. It is also essential to create a routine for the initiation that includes the same time, the same place, the same environmental conditions and why not, make the transformation after a previous habit and enjoy adapting the brain to the new habit.

This was part of the dissertation of Dr. Isidro Torres, coordinator of the Family Medicine specialization of UNINAVARRA, at the III International Symposium of Family Medicine of the Universidad de la Sabana, held in Chía, Cundinamarca. His presentation was well received by the audience and was very consistent with the central theme of the symposium.

Art and family medicine, a night of stars

With the attendance of more than 600 people, including students, teachers and members of the community of Neiva, the event art and family medicine was held at the Pigoanza theater on May 8, 2024. This activity organized by the family medicine program in its undergraduate area counted with the participation of eighth, ninth and tenth semester students of the subjects of family medicine I, II and III respectively.

The students majestically represented topics associated with family medicine such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, high blood pressure, low back pain, headache, vertigo, sexuality, death, IMCI, food safety, malnutrition, family dysfunction, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and HELLP syndrome.

The didactic strategy art and family medicine arises as a tool to strengthen the students' knowledge of medicine and soft skills. Initially, the student reviews a topic in a group, exposes it and the teacher clarifies doubts and reinforces the different aspects. Subsequently, it is articulated with the area of arts of the university foundation and the student is in the task of first explaining the knowledge and take it to the understanding of the teachers of a subject completely different from medicine. Subsequently, in a collaborative work group of students expose their creative idea and with the art instructors establish an artistic presentation. They practice with advice from the aforementioned area and with direct supervision of the family medicine teachers. Finally, they perform their staging, which is graded with a rubric known by the students that establishes aspects such as knowledge, ability to clearly expose that knowledge to a non-medical audience, creativity, collaborative work and staging.

This strategy has allowed students to consolidate their knowledge, to be able to teach and educate in health. Overcome stage fright, considering themselves capable of making any type of presentation and overcoming their mental barriers. Work as a team and bring to a purpose a project where they will be observed and evaluated. All this without mentioning the great contribution that emotions and imagination bring to medical work for the achievement of a medicine based on compassion and holism. It is worth highlighting the contribution that these future doctors make to the community by teaching medical topics in an entertaining way that remains in the memory.

The presentation of the students was brilliant, like a firmament full of stars and aroused admiration, feelings of pride and even tears from the spectators, which also included family members of the students of the University Foundation of Navarra-UNINAVARRA.

Since 2010, the celebration of the International Day of the Family Physician began every May 19. Family medicine arises from the need to integrate health care, as a specialty it promotes the management of individuals from all their dimensions and through its nine principles promotes a holistic, differential, longitudinal and person-based care.

The contribution of family physicians to people's health has gone beyond the walls of the office and has improved care processes at the primary, hospital and administrative levels, as well as in the field of professional training. In Colombia there are currently one thousand family physicians and their work has transformed health care activities through their compassion and commitment to patients, families and communities.

On May 21, residents and family physicians of the South Colombian region gathered to honor their specialty. In this event they shared an academic activity and took the opportunity to define the qualities of the first congress of Huila in family medicine.

The WHO defines physical activity as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles, with the consequent consumption of energy. Taking into account this definition and its distinctions, we can include physical exercise and sports practices within this context.

The advantages of physical activity on the health of individuals have been widely evidenced, however, if we are certain that something is so favorable, why don't all human beings perform physical activity, exercise or sports? Considering that physical activity not only influences the physical aspects of people, but is also directly associated with joy, socialization, emotions and concentration, we can conclude that there is no more effective and comprehensive remedy.

On June 7, President John Hagler Romero Abril, showed through transdisciplinarity and active participation of the community, his great session, the benefits of physical activity in all dimensions of being. He also exposed in a clear way the proper way to prescribe exercise within the ambulatory care setting of family medicine.

It should be noted that the resident works voluntarily with a group of inhabitants of the community of Fortalecillas who, with their group Mina Real, demonstrated the benefits of associating around dance for the improvement of health and quality of life.

The term pairing refers to the union, analogy or conformity with which some things are linked or correspond to each other. In the case of wines, it is the relationship that exists between the type of wine and the food that is accompanied with it to enhance flavors and increase the pleasure of eating and drinking. It can be said that there is a perfect wine to accompany each food, traditionally it was said that red wine accompanied red meat, champagne caviar and oysters, sweet wine with dessert and white wine for meat and white fish. However, nowadays the term pairing goes far beyond these concepts and there are as many pairings as there are palates, flavors or tastes.

This analogy was used by first semester resident Gerly Vanessa Rincón Puentes, who on June 21, 2024, held the great session "Inhaler patient pairing. In this academic event the resident showed precisely the technological variety of inhalers and the presentations of each of the drugs they contain. It was clear that there are pneumatic and ultrasonic nebulizers, also that current devices can be pressurized, fine mist, dry powder that can generate one or multiple doses.

This variety of presentations of both the drugs to be inhaled and the technology that accompanies the different devices can lead to confusion, inadequate use of the drug or reduced adherence. For this reason, family physicians should know the different existing devices and when formulating them explain to the patient how to activate the device, how to use it optimally and how to store the medication. Also the importance of choosing the right inhaler according to the characteristics of each patient, therefore, there is a perfect inhaler for each patient who requires it.

Third Cohort of Family Medicine Residents

For the period 2024-2, after knowledge tests, English, resume analysis and psycho-technical tests, six residents were selected to be part of the third cohort of UNINAVARRA residents for the Family Medicine program.

The residents were received in a welcome and induction ceremony on July 12, 2024 and that same afternoon they began their training process with the Family Medicine I foundation course. This group of aspiring medical-surgical specialists arrived full of expectations due to the different positive comments heard from the residents who are already part of the two previous cohorts. They were introduced to the different teachers, the different activities to be performed, as well as the different academic and administrative areas that work together for the good performance of the postgraduate training.

This group of future family physicians is quite varied, including undergraduate graduates from the Universidad Surcolombiana, Universidad San Martín, Universidad Rafael Núñez, among others. Also a multiregional inclusion of people from the Colombian Atlantic coast, southern Colombia, departments of Risaralda and Nariño and of course some regions of Huila.

“Les he dicho a mis hijos que cuando me muera, que suelten globos en el cielo para celebrar que me gradué. Para mí, la muerte es una graduación”. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.

Esta maravillosa autora, que consideró siempre la muerte como parte de la vida, realizó un gran avance en esta difícil tarea de incluir la muerte dentro de la educación para vivir, además con la descripción de las cinco etapas: negación, ira, tristeza, negociación y aceptación ha permitido un mejor entendimiento sobre el duelo. Impartir educación sobre este tema hace parte del proceso de sanación de una pérdida y no es una actividad sencilla desde el punto de vista académico.

De la misma forma tocar un tema tan sensible como lo es la infertilidad en una sociedad cuyo constructo casi obliga a las parejas que se forman a reproducirse, representa un gran reto para lograr su comprensión. La O.M.S. asegura que uno de cada seis adultos en el mundo se ve afectado por problemas de fertilidad, por lo que este tema requiere una atención importante por parte de los sistemas de salud.

De una forma magistral las residentes María Araque y Gelithza Tole lograron en su gran sesión creativa transformar las creencias y el conocimiento previo de estudiantes de pregrado, residentes y docentes sobre los tópicos del duelo y la infertilidad. Estas dos estudiantes de posgrado consiguieron a través del cine y una serie televisiva realizar un proceso vivencial de los dos temas. Utilizando escenas de la película la cabaña, del director Stuart Hazeldine, la doctora Araque realizó una actividad formativa emocional sobre el duelo y la muerte, permitiendo aflorar sentimientos y enfatizar las diferentes etapas del duelo ante una muerte enmarcada dentro de las crisis no normativas. La doctora Tole utilizó escena del personaje Charlotte York Goldenblatt, de la serie sex and the city , producida por Sarah Jessica Parker, enfatizando todo el contexto de su drama con la infertilidad, mostrando en todas las dimensiones del ser el abordaje de esta situación. Estas dos grandes sesiones mostraron una forma inolvidable de afrontar dos temas bastante complejos, pero fundamentales en el ejercicio de la medicina familiar. Las dos grandes sesiones tuvieron lugar los días 19 y 26 de julio de 2024.

En el mejoramiento de los resultados en salud de la población general, la educación continuada de los médicos generales constituye un aspecto fundamental. Conscientes de esta premisa la especialización de Medicina Familiar de la Fundación Universitaria Navarra-UNINAVARRA, inicia la primera de sus jornadas de educación continuada en la E.S.E Carmen Emilia Ospina, en la sede Canaima. La institución permitió que sus médicos generales asistieran el día 26 de julio a una actividad de afianzamiento y actualización en los aspectos fundamentales del abordaje y manejo de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y la hipertensión arterial.

En este primer acercamiento los especialistas en Medicina Familiar Carlos Reyes e Isidro Torres y el residente de segundo semestre John Romero intercambiaron saberes sobre estos tópicos con los médicos generales de la institución prestadora de servicios de salud. Se abordaron aspectos de prevención primaria, secundaria, terciaria y cuaternaria, enfocados al mantenimiento de salud de las personas y se realizó un taller para la detección temprana del pie diabético.

En este encuentro se logró realizar un proceso formativo acorde a las guías y evidencia científica actuales con respecto a la prevención, tamización, diagnóstico temprano, control oportuno y manejo en todas las dimensiones del ser de estas dos condiciones de salud. Se obtuvo satisfacción tanto de la entidad como de los médicos asistentes al evento y se espera continuar con estas jornadas para contribuir desde la academia con la educación continuada de los médicos generales de la región.

With the masterful representation of the play the playfulness of deathThe first of four narratives of death was presented by Mery Elsy Cano Núñez, director of the Candilejas Cultural Corporation and Master in Education and Culture of Peace. This staging, which showed death associated with sadness, nostalgia and the joy of remembrance, served as an introduction to begin the journey through the history of death from the perspective of the people.

Death is part of life and talking about it allows us to learn to live better. Starting with Paleolithic groups such as the Neanderthal and Neolithic, of which there are traces of burials for their dead, to offerings and rituals as social events. Continuing with ancient Egypt where death was only a transitory step and a preparation to achieve the final destination after the judgment of Osiris helped by the preparation that the living made for this important journey. Making a stop in the Rome and Greece of antiquity with its structured laws on death, necromancy and all the mythology that surrounded it. Without leaving aside the pre-Hispanic cultures with the Zapotecs, their god Pitao Pezeelao who communicated from the underworld through the song of the owls. Also the funerary constructions of the San Agustín culture in the department of Huila with its great necropolis that worshiped not only the local dead, but also those who came from more remote places like Peru and Bolivia.

Included in this historical and cultural journey were the Tibetan funeral traditions, the celestial burial where the soul is given to the birds. As well as the Haitian voodoo and the lumbalu of the Palenquero people of the Colombian Caribbean coast among others. This first narrative allowed to know the importance of death in different historical moments and to make a formative reflection on the transcendental of death in daily life and in university education.

Health, ergonomics and anti-stress activities for the College of Bacteriologists of Huila

The members of the College of Bacteriologists of Huila benefited from an activity carried out by the specialization of Family Medicine of UNINAVARRA. This activity took place on August 23, 2024 and had the objective of educating on health in terms of ergonomics, breathing activities, meditation and easy exercises to perform during the workday.

Human beings spend most of our time at work, often subjected to unfavorable postures for the body and involved in situations that alter mental health. It is therefore essential to implement active breaks that contain both relaxation, stress management and physical activity components to prevent diseases and improve work performance. Performing warm-up movements allows muscle conditioning to continue with the daily workday. Proper breathing provides general benefits in terms of better oxygenation of each cell, vasodilation, improvement of vital signs and better functioning of the nervous system in general. On this occasion, at the College of Bacteriology we teach you in a practical way the pranic breathing that allows us to incorporate these benefits to our daily life.

Meditation is an action of internal reflection, conscious in letting our brain enter into waves of relaxation and tranquility (alpha) independently of external situations that steal our calm. There are many techniques to perform it, the group of teachers and residents used a combination of breathing, muscle contractions, gradual relaxation, music, Tibetan singing bowls, nature noises, sandalwood aroma and following positive messages to give peace of mind to this important group of professionals.

This event is framed within the principles of Family Medicine and the obligation of the academy to leave the classrooms and practice institutions and actively reach the different groups of our society to educate in health.
